These photos have been taken as my way of preserving a musical lifestyle known as the Blues.
Some of the performers you'll find here have passed away and only their music and photos remains as their legacy.
Please enjoy my passion and pass it on to others.
I'd like to state up front that I do not consider myself a "professional", I've shared the photo pit with many who truly are gifted photographers and are way above my expertise level. To me it's just a hobby but one that I enjoy immensely.
I started late in life taking pictures of artists. I was a drummer for 23 years until arthritis took its toll on my hands. I didn't want to quit music all together, so I bounced around doing other things related to the music business until the shutter bug got me.
All the photos here were taken during live performances. I'm not one for staging photos, but would rather catch the raw emotions of an artist while he or she creates.
You'll notice that I have a thing for headshots. I don't know why, I just do and I've been chastised by some artists, one in particlar of whom I had a beautiful close up where you could see the crowd reflection in her sunglasses. When I showed it to her she stated, " I don't like it at all. I'm a guitar player and you can't see my guitar.
My camera bodies are a Nikon D200, D2H, & D700
Lens are all Nikon
